Ruth Bloch: Founder of Heart and Home Living

Ruth Bloch

Our Founder

Ruth is a versatile and driven individual with nearly 20 years of experience working with the homeless, helping them transition from the streets into stable, long-term homes. Her extensive background includes education in both music and financial management, equipping her with a diverse set of skills that she applies to her compassionate mission.

In 2022, seeking a fresh challenge, Ruth decided to focus on helping children. After many years of assisting adults, she founded Heart and Home Living, an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children. Ruth established Heart and Home Living from the ground up, overcoming numerous challenges along the way. Through organic and steady growth, the organisation has expanded its reach, striving to help as many children as possible achieve better lives.

Heart and Home Living operates with clear and simplistic visions: to provide the best care for the children and to ensure the best working environments for our staff. Ruth understands that a supportive and nurturing environment for staff translates to the highest quality care for the children. Therefore, the organisation is deeply committed to looking after and caring for its employees, fostering a workplace where everyone can thrive and excel.

Ruth’s dedication to improving the living conditions of society’s most vulnerable individuals is evident in her tireless efforts and innovative approaches. Highly motivated and committed to excellence, Ruth has made a significant impact in the field, transforming countless lives through her work.

In her spare time, Ruth enjoys playing the piano, a talent she has honed since she was a child prodigy. She is also an avid tennis player, regularly participating in competitions and following major tournaments such as Wimbledon and the French Open with keen interest. Additionally, she is an enthusiast of theatre and the arts whenever she finds the time.

Ruth’s passion, versatility, and unwavering dedication make her an inspiring leader, guiding our organisation towards new heights and ensuring we continue to be a beacon of hope for those in need. By prioritising both the well-being of the children we serve and the staff who make it all possible, Ruth ensures that Heart and Home Living is a place where everyone can grow and succeed.

We are dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where children feel a sense of ownership and belonging. Our goal is to help children overcome any difficulties they may face, fulfil their potential, and achieve the best possible outcomes in life. Our Journey

Our journey started with an idea – that children deserve warm, caring, comfortable homes where they can thrive and grow – and where, eventually, they can become adults capable of living their best lives. Our director team has a collective 40 years of experience in adult homeless care and there was one common denominator that came up time and again when working with a person who had hit rock bottom and become homeless: more often than not, they were the product of a children’s home. Often, they had terrible experiences in those homes, but in many cases, it came to do a simple lack of care – of love.

We set out, perhaps naively, but with great hope, to transform the experiences of young people and children in care. Our goal is to provide top quality homes, with spacious living areas and quality furnishings – homes we would be proud to raise our families in. We ensure we have caring, committed staff, that are trained in the latest parenting techniques, to provide trauma informed care.

Our team includes a clinical psychologist who advises our staff and supports them through the challenges they face, whilst also working directly with our young people in a non-invasive manner, helping them navigate their emotional landscapes. We do our best to give our young people access to the best possible education, suited to their needs, and adapted as necessary, in addition to access to extracurricular activities that develop their sense of self-worth and build character.

Although we are still nearer to the beginning of our journey than the end, we are guided by a clear vision: to continually improve how we care for young people, ensuring they thrive in a loving and nurturing environment.
