Our Journey
Our journey started with an idea – that children deserve warm, caring, comfortable homes where they can thrive and grow – and where, eventually, they can become adults capable of living their best lives. Our director team has a collective 40 years of experience in adult homeless care and there was one common denominator that came up time and again when working with a person who had hit rock bottom and become homeless: more often than not, they were the product of a children’s home. Often, they had terrible experiences in those homes, but in many cases, it came to do a simple lack of care – of love.
We set out, perhaps naively, but with great hope, to transform the experiences of young people and children in care. Our goal is to provide top quality homes, with spacious living areas and quality furnishings – homes we would be proud to raise our families in. We ensure we have caring, committed staff, that are trained in the latest parenting techniques, to provide trauma informed care.
Our team includes a clinical psychologist who advises our staff and supports them through the challenges they face, whilst also working directly with our young people in a non-invasive manner, helping them navigate their emotional landscapes. We do our best to give our young people access to the best possible education, suited to their needs, and adapted as necessary, in addition to access to extracurricular activities that develop their sense of self-worth and build character.
Although we are still nearer to the beginning of our journey than the end, we are guided by a clear vision: to continually improve how we care for young people, ensuring they thrive in a loving and nurturing environment.
